Due to an agreement between RCA and Sun Records Elvis' version of the song was not released as a single in the US, it was released on his first album and on an EP (Sun Records was concerned that an Elvis single of it would hurt their sales of Carl Perkins' version). Despite that, Elvis version was still a top 20 hit in the US. It was an even bigger hit overseas where it was released as a single. This release includes the original B-side, Tutti Frutti, plus an excellent bonus recording of Lawdy Miss Clawdy. Art Dudley, Stereophile, June 2005 Good products are worth their weight in gold when times are a little harsh - and this album was certainly a genially placed stopgap. In 1959, at the time when RCA launched this record on the market, the labels shinning rock star was out of the country doing his military service in Germany.

In order to comfort all his fans during his forced absence, the record bosses produced an album with a smartly uniformed Elvis on the cover, smiling widely to let his faithful followers know that hed be back soon. There was a special calendar, too, so that his fans could count off the days until his return. This marketing ploy was extremely successful. The record became a highly desirable collectors item and even years later illegal dollars still flowed from pirate copies. The RCA producers kept mum about when and where the tracks were recorded.

But who cares about that when listening to Elvis giving the "blue grass" classic "Blue Moon Of Kentucky" his unmistakable, rockabilly sound? The other titles, all of them performed by a well-proven ensemble of rock n roll musicians, are filled with the honest, powerful language of the young - or from todays viewpoint, old - Elvis. Which takes us back full circle to the date. What better way is there to celebrate the 50. Birthday of rock n roll than with this early album by its.

ELVIS PRESLEY ELVIS AT STAX 40TH ANNIVERSARY 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2LP. 40th Anniversary of Elvis' Classic Recordings at Legendary Stax Studios! Remastered from the Original Session Tapes! 40th Anniversary 180g Vinyl Double LP chronicles Presley's last major studio sessions spent at Stax Recording Studios in his hometown of Memphis in July and December 1973. Elvis At Stax bristles with energy and dynamism including singles that skirted the Top 40 from 1973 to 1975. The desire for a new sound found Elvis performing with members of Booker T. And The MGs, The Memphis Boys and his own TCB Band. Etched in music history, 1973 was a crucial watershed year for Presley, in the wake of his return to extended concert touring in 1972, after 12 years away from the stage and 27 movies in Hollywood. His manager, Colonel Tom Parker, sought a world-class mega-event to underscore the touring, which led to the one-hour global satellite broadcast from the Honolulu International Center Arena on January 14, 1973, viewed by over one billion people around the world. The highs of 1972-'73 led Presley and Colonel Parker to accept a multi-million dollar offer from RCA for an outright transfer of Presley's complete back catalog.

He wanted a new start, new control, and a new publishing company. But the RCA deal also called for his return to the studio and a promise for him to deliver 24 new masters.

Four years earlier, in 1969, Presley had made his Memphis recording return at Chips Moman's American Studios. These triumphantly successful sessions had yielded a year-long string of'comeback' hit singles including "In the Ghetto" and "Suspicious Minds".

But by 1973, American Studios had closed up shop, and most of its musicians had relocated to Nashville. However, Stax Studios, the launching pad of such greats as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Booker T. And The MGs, and Isaac Hayes, was still thriving at its original space on McLemore Avenue. In fact, Isaac Hayes relinquished his studio time to accommodate Presley. Presley spent 12 days at Stax in 1973 (July 21-25, and December 10-16), and the roller coaster ride of those sessions is detailed in Gordon's liner notes.

Elvis Presley Live At The International Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada August 26, 1969 2LP 50th Anniversary Of Las Vegas Concert On Double LP! "I was missing the contact with a live audience, ". Elvis says in this show, and at every show during his first engagement at The International Hotel in Las Vegas.

Apart from two shows in 1961 and the recent TV show, Elvis hadn't performed on stage for 11 years. After years of increasingly worse movies and diminishing record sales, Elvis had just managed to turn his career around with his 1968 TV special. The show had aired on December 3, 1968, and it was a surprising reminder to the world of just how magnetic a performer Elvis Presley still was. Just weeks later Elvis recorded more than 30 songs in Memphis, some of the best work of his career, and the return to live performances on July 31, 1969 was the third step of his resurrection as an artist. The New York Times wrote. Elvis Presley came to this place and provided an unbelievable exercise in pure, exciting rock'n' roll. There was a wild, almost manic, energy to the performances, displaying a burning desire from Elvis and his band to show the full potential of their abilities.

This show demonstrates all the charm and charisma of Elvis and his great, new band, combining repertoire of mainly blues-tinged rock'n' roll, with a few beautiful ballads and his two, new, hit singles, "In The Ghetto" and Suspicious Minds. Recorded at the 2,000-seater showroom of the International, the intimate setting also gave Elvis the opportunity to talk to his audience, cracking jokes and telling a 10 minute story of his career, giving a rare insight to an otherwise very private man.

Elvis Presley 50 MILLION FANS CAN'T BE WRONG 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP WITH 10 BONUS TRACKS. 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong (Elvis' Gold Records - Volume 2) was originally released back in 1959.

In the two years that Elvis had by then spent in the army, the world of Rock'n'Roll had changed dramatically; Buddy Holly and Richie Valens had died in a plane crash, Little Richard had quit, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry had fallen from grace and Jimi Hendrix bought his first electric guitar. This album was meant as a pacifier for Elvis' fans in the two year hiatus he would be unable to record any new songs.

It worked; after Elvis' return he was more popular than ever, which proved that all his fans had, indeed, been right all along. This release also contains a number of songs Elvis recorded for his Christmas album and a number of in-demand movie songs, totaling ten extra songs on this Music On Vinyl 180 grams audiophile vinyl! Anyone who buys the notion that Elvis was'tamed' during his first years at RCA will find revelation in'A Big Hunk of Love,''I Need Your Love Tonight,' and'I Got Stung,' some of the greatest pieces of hard rock & roll that the King ever cut -- and all were recorded in the midst of Elvis' stay in the Army, in a hastily arranged session in Nashville during June 1958.

By this time, his voice was becoming one of the finest instruments in rock & roll, his idolization of Dean Martin and other popular singers paying off with a degree of control and articulation that his rivals could only envy, and it's all laid out here on what are still some pretty hard-rocking sides. The album, If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (out this fall), pairs one of the most recognizable voices of the past half-century with classical arrangements that don't so much overtake the original versions that fans hold near and dear as sweeten them. Fourteen of Elvis Presley's greatest vocal performances will be paired with new orchestral accompaniment on an upcoming collection titled If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. On the LP, classic tracks like "Love Me Tender" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" will boast new arrangements courtesy of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which recorded their performance at London's Abbey Road Studios. The album, the latest addition to the ongoing celebration of what would have been Presley's 80th birthday in 2015, arrives on October 30th. Elvis Presley Elvis' Golden Records LIMITED EDITION IMPORT LP. Have we got the lot? The King of Rock'n' Roll certainly didn't need to ask whether his entourage had collected together all their favorite hits. They had gathered them all together - a collection of "Golden Records", rather like a selection box of favorite chocolates, greedily swallowed down and enjoyed to the full.

And how they loved them all - whether'complete works' collectors or fans. To this very day, this collection from 1958 is quite set apart from the normal'best of' collections. It shines out like a precious jewel among mere pebbles. This was the first of four Gold volumes, and it set the standard for those to come. To name a title is more than superfluous. It's quite enough just to listen and enjoy. Whoever wants the ultimate basic Elvis collection cant go wrong here. Loving You (with The Jordanaires). All Shook Up (with The Jordanaires). Too Much (with The Jordanaires). That's When Your Heartaches Begin (with The Jordanaires). Teddy Bear (with The Jordanaires).

Anyway You Want Me (That's How I Will Be). Elvis Presley Viva Elvis: The Album LP.

Inspired by the multi-million dollar Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas show, Viva Elvis is a celebration. Its a celebration of the passion and energy of an icon who broke all musical boundaries and taught the world to rock and roll. Its a celebration of the love its creators feel for the man and his music.

And its a celebration of the joy his songs can inspire in old and new fans alike. Never straying far from the mood and brilliance of the originals, Viva Elvis brings his masterpieces bang up to date for the 21st Century faithful enough to the originals to trigger old memories and fresh enough to create new ones; Viva Elvis is for everyone who loved Elvis and for anyone inspired to get to know him more. Elvis was the ultimate showman charismatic, controversial, always entertaining. It seems fitting that the Viva Elvis music originated from Cirque du Soleils show in Las Vegas the home of showmanship.

But the purpose of Viva Elvis is more than Elvis the showman. The undisputed King of Rock'n' Roll, Elvis Presley remains one of the most iconic and powerful forces in popular culture. After Elvis, the world looked and sounded different. With a swivel of his hips and the power of his voice, Elvis broke down barriers and shattered the status quo, revolutionizing the worlds of music, film and fashion while signaling a seismic shift in gender, class, race, and generational relationships. The Elvis revolution continues with Viva ELVIS - The Album.

The postmodern studio masterwork invokes the spirit and essence of Elvis from a contemporary perspective while furthering the revolutionary impulses of Elvis' sound. Viva ELVIS - The Album re-imagines the king's own vocal performances in a broad variety of new musical settings. This new sound echoes Elvis' own versatility and ability to master all music genres, from Delta blues to rockabilly, from raw soul to gospel, from Southern folk to Vegas pop, while incorporating elements of garage rock, punk, urban and hip-hop. "Viva ELVIS is a tantalizing musical experience, " said Adam Block, Senior Vice President/General Manager, Legacy Recordings. It's so creative and so contemporary, it effortlessly places Elvis in a current context that appeals to fans of all ages and all kinds of music.

There's a freshness, a newness to these songs that grabs you and shakes you and ultimately testifies to the remarkable artist Elvis remains to this very day. What would the songs of Elvis be like if he were doing them for the first time today? Asks the album's producer and arranger Erich van Tourneau, Musical Director and Arranger for Viva ELVIS by Cirque du Soleil. We set out to evoke the soul and spirit of Elvis Presley while building a bridge between his music and future generations of fans.

When working on the music for Viva ELVIS, van Tourneau -- aided by Hugo Bombardier, Assistant Producer and Assistant Arranger on Viva ELVIS - The Album -- spent more than 3,000 hours reviewing countless albums, films, concert recordings, interviews and home recordings of Elvis. More than 17,000 samples of Elvis' songs the raw material for the show were made during the process.

Working with tens of thousands of samples of Elvis' voice, van Tourneau and Bombardier often wove several sequences and sounds into the same songs, sometimes changing details such as the key and tempo. In creating Viva ELVIS - The Album, van Tourneau was looking to accentuate and boost the emotional charge of the songs with the incorporation of ragga, punk or hip-hop elements into classic recordings.

In all cases, however, the goal was to respect and understand the essence of the original recordings. In celebration of all eras of Elvis' musical genius, Viva ELVIS - The Album includes songs from Elvis' rise to fame in the'50s, his movie soundtracks, his triumphant return to the stage in the "'68 Special, " and his ground-breaking appearances in Las Vegas. "Burning Love, " "Suspicious Minds, " "Blue Suede Shoes" and "It's Now or Never" are among the songs that have been re-imagined and transformed for Viva ELVIS - The Album. Viva ELVIS - The Album is a 21st century venue for rock's first and biggest superstar.

The RCA album entitled ELVIS SINGS THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CHRISTMAS (ANL1-1936) is a 1975 reissue of an LP from four years earlier (LSP-4579). Principal tracks were laid down in Nashville on May 15th and 16th, 1971, with overdubbing one week to a month later.

These may have been rushed sessions, for the King's voice is not always up to par here. He has breath control and tremolo difficulties on "Snowy Christmas Night" and "Home on Christmas Day, " plus lyrics are slurred on Won't Seem Like Christmas.

The Imperials Quartet back Elvis on all save "Winter Wonderland" and Merry Christmas Baby, the album's highlight: an extra-long bluesy number featuring Presley's core studio backing band Chet Atkins on guitar, pianist Floyd Cramer, Charlie McCoy's harmonica, etc. It's this set's only non-country song and is simply marvelous. "Winter Wonderland" is a rockin' Nashville production with a guitar solo from Atkins. Cramer's tinkling keys are prominent on the title track. [2:47] O Come, All Ye Faithful.
