Own a piece of history. Recording King Venetian Archtop Acoustic Guitar formerly belonging to Elvis Presley and Hall of Famer Delvin Miller. Now is your opportunity to get a great guitar or amp youll be proud to own and play.

1930s ERA RECORDING KING WITH ORIGINAL CASE. Back in the day, the Recording King began as a house brand in the 1930s for the nationwide retailer Montgomery Ward. Recording King acoustic guitars and banjos were developed during what was considered the Golden Age of musical craftsmanship in America, a period that resulted in some of the most well-respected and sought-after fretted acoustic instruments available. The instruments were known for vintage designs and hand-assembled parts offered at reasonable prices. Many great musicians got their start on these guitars.

Below is everything we know about this guitar. This guitar contains a typed letter that is glued inside along the upper back that reads. To my friend Delvin Miller The greatest horseman, Thank you for your friendship and advice. One of my first guitars for you enjoyment.

Typos shown in this letter are as typed on the paper. On the right side of the paper is, in handwriting in what appears to be pencil. Also included with the guitar will be a color copy of a letter from Delvin Miller to his nephew dated 28 December 1982, that reads, in part (where words cannot be made out we put in XX). I met Elvis Presley XX Sam Phillips, a recording legend who owned Sun Records His partner XX XX, was founder of Holiday Inn and a lover of horses. Met Elvis in 1962 and would see him occasionally.

He was in Nashville in 1964 and recording a record when on the 28th of May I was given this guitar. He said it was a Recording King Venetian, which is appropriate as it looks Italian. I had jokingly asked for one of his guitars, which is a good lesson for you as if you ask, you shall receive.

He had a good heart, was polite, and took an XX (either interest or intent) in things outside his music world. ABOUT DELVIN MILLER Delvin Miller was a Hall of Fame harness racing driver who competed in eight decades and the man who steered his sport through the Iron Curtain. His career ended at Pompano Park in Florida on April 13, 1990. Tracks were built in the Soviet Union during the cold war. Miller, who had been the driving force behind the International Trot first run at the now defunct Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury, L. In 1959, was asked by Yonkers Raceway officials in 1960 to find new sources of horses for its short-lived United Nations Trot. Miller won over the Soviets, who allowed him to travel behind the Iron Curtain and bring trotters back to North America. Miller carried his love of four-footed animals into the armed forces. He trained pack mules in the China-Burma-India theater in World War II. And even in retirement he would often climb back in the sulky.'He won his last race,'' said Ellen Harvey, executive director of Harness Racing Communications.

'On May 3, 1996, at the Spring Garden Ranch in Florida, Miller won a race with Keystone Scarlett, a filly partly owned by baseball legend and long-time friend Whitey Ford. Miller trained and owned horses with many celebrities and was often present at sporting events and celebrity events with his friends baseball Hall of Famer Stan Musial, televisions Tonto Jay Silverheels, and his best friend golf Hall of Famer Arnold Palmer.

Miller competed in a record 26 Hambletonian stakes races and due to his global celebrity was officially named the Goodwill Ambassador of Harness Racing by the racing industry. The guitar could be made playable with a professionals help. It has moderate play wear and weather checking throughout the finish. The gold leaf is in very good condition. The wood itself is in very good condition. The pick guard is warped. There is a chip in the top head white overlay.

The guitar requires a professional setup if you wish to play it. There is a small fracture in heel. We did not fix it as we feel it best to leave the instrument in its original state given the documentation and age of the guitar. THIS IS ONE FOR ELVIS FANS OR HARNESS RACING FANS OR ANYONE WANTING AN INTERESTING 80+ YEAR OLD GUITAR WITH A GREAT STORY.
